Definition
Storage type from which the material that is to be transported is taken.
The storage type is a subdivision of a complex physical warehouse into individual 'partial warehouses'. The various storage types may be distinguished by warehousing techniques used, organizational form or function.
A warehouse can be comprised of the following storage types, for example:
- Goods receipt area
- Picking area
- High rack storage area (reserve storage area)
Use
The source storage type serves as an argument for defining automatic 'pick handling unit' creation.
