is used for specifying the limits within which interest is calculated. In the master record of the relevant account, the field "Key date of the last interest calculation" can be maintained or not.

  • 1) the key date of the last interest calculation is not maintained
  • In this case, the parameters 'settlement period ...until...' determine the upper or lower period limit. (Thus, the lower period limit- 1 is assumed as a key date of the last interest calculation.) If you want, for certain accounts, one of the key dates of the last interest calculation to be different from that of the period lower limit, you must maintain the key date of the last interest calculation manually in the master record before the run. In this case, the interest cycle must theoretically also be maintained (see below).

If the parameter 'Update master record' is not selected, the key date of the last interest calculation is not maintained in the master record when importing the batch input session either. This means that the user has complete control over the setting of the settlement period. Were this not the case, then the dates are set by the system, so that for further interest calculation runs case 2) is to be assumed.

  • 2) the key date of the last interest calculation is maintained
  • If you want to have the system calculate the next interest calculation deadline, the key date of the last interest calculation (in the master record) and the interest cycle (in months) must be maintained before the first interest calculation run; the latter should be carried out either individually in the master record or globally per interest calculation indicator in the general interest terms (for which, the following applies: an entry in the master record has a higher priority than an entry in the general interest terms).

Interest is calculated as of the key date of the last interest calculation + 1 day until the next interest calculation date, providing the next interest calculation date is smaller than or equal to the upper limit that was specified in the parameter 'Settlement period'.
The next interest calculation date is determined as follows:
next interest calculation date = key date of last interest calculation +interest cycle (in months). As a result, the period (MMYYYY) is clearly determined.
In order to determine the precise day, the day of settlement should be specified in the general interest terms. If, for example, you would prefer to always calculate interest on the 30th of the month, then enter 30. However, in February interest is calculated on the last day of the month, i.e. the 28th. You can cater for this by specifying 31 as the settlement day. The system will then always calculate interest on the last day of the month, regardless of the date. If, however, you specify a day between 1 and 28, the system will take this date as the calculating interest. The next interest calculation date is then updated as the key date of the last interest calculation when importing the batch input session into the master record (providing the parameter 'Update for master record' was selected).
