Definition

A 'business entity' describes a self-contained construct.

In real estate management a business entity might consist of

  • one or more pieces of real estate (plots of land) and/or
  • one or more buildings and/or
  • one or more rental units.

Real estate, buildings, and rental units are collected together as business entities when the following preconditions are fulfilled:

  • The must either have a common owner or be managed by a single organization.
  • They must be in immediate proximity of one another to form a coherent area.
  • There should be no significant differences in the living or usage capacity of the buildings (equiped to the same technological standards, same building design and fittings).
  • They must be used for the same purpose.
