Definition

Within an event receiver (for example a workflow started by an event), various errors can occur. If an error occurs, there may be feedback to the event manager. The following behavior can be defined:

  • Deactivation of the linkage

The linkage for the relevant event receiver is deactivated. This receiver (for example a workflow) is not started for the following events if the linkage is deactivated. The events are not stored temporarily.

  • Mark linkage as "error"

The event linkage is not deactivated, but is marked as "error". All events for this linkage are stored temporarily and can be redelivered manually. The event linkage must be defined manually as "no errors" after the cause of the error has been removed so that the receiver can be started again automatically. This can be done either via the administration user interface of the event queue or via event linkage maintenance.

The temporarily stored events can be redelivered via the administration user interface of the event queue.

  • Do not change linkage

If an error is returned, the linkage is not changed. The event is stored temporarily for redelivery. If more events follow for this linkage, attempts are made to start the receiver. If an error is discovered, the relevant events are stored temporarily.

In contrast to marking the linkage as "error", an attempt is made to start the receiver for each event. If there is always an error, the system load is greater than in direct temporary storage of events. It is, however, possible for errors to depend on event parameters. With this configuration, only those events for which the error has occurred are stored temporarily. Receivers with no errors (based on the event parameters) are started immediately.
