Definition

Specifies the number of calendar days after which the medium-term planning period commences starting from the period of examination.

The medium-term planning period subdivides the period of examination into a short-term and a medium-term period. The system only dispatches and firms the planned orders in the short-term period. In the medium-term period, the system displays the planned orders in the section of the sequence schedule entitled, "Orders not yet dispatched".

The system calculates the medium-term planning period by adding the number of calendar days to the start date of the period of examination.

Use

You can use the medium-term planning period to limit the period in which the system dispatches and firms the planned orders in the sequence schedule. You can then manually dispatch any planned orders that lie in the medium-term planning period in the sequence schedule.

If you do not specify a medium-term planning period, the system dispatches and firms all the planned orders in the complete period of examination. These firmed planned orders are no longer changed in subsequent MRP runs.

Dependencies

In the visualization profile for Sequencing, you can specify a different column width for the columns of the medium-term planning period than for the columns of the short-term planning period.
