Definition

The representative value is a "substitute" for a group of values. You use it for example, in report texts.

Procedure

Enter a value that is representative of this group.

Examples

Using the selection, you execute a report via the cost center group and you want to display the cost center manager in the report header.
The cost center manager is only stored in the cost center master data. That is why you enter a cost center as the representative cost center. When you execute the report, the cost center manager for the representative cost center is displayed.

Use

The representative value is primarily used for cost center groups in Overhead Management.

• In reporting:
• For selecting the departmental printer if you want to print out a hierarchy in which the responsibility area changes per hierarchy level and therefore a different printer is addressed per area.
• For displaying master data for characteristics from the rows and columns in the report, for example, the representative value is used in the report header when text variables are replaced.
• In hierarchical rollups:
• The representative value stands for example, for the cost center in which the data from all cost centers in the set should be summarized.
• In planning (only for CO Profit Center Accounting and FI Special Purpose Ledger):
• If a planning parameter set contains a representative value, for example a cost center, you can enter an amount only for this cost center in planning. The representative value is the substitute for all the cost centers in the set.
