Unlike row and column sets, selection sets are used only for general data selection and do not affect the layout of the report.
Each characteristic can be used as a selection characteristic. However, key figure sets can only be used in the selection set if they contain just one set entry.
Note:

All sets that have only one entry should always be used as a selection set in the report.
