This field determines which method the system uses (if at all) to calculate the quantity of each variant to be allocated to each plant when a quantity of a generic material is entered. The following methods are possible:
- Manual entry of the variant quantities, with automatic distribution among the plants
With this method, you have to enter the total quantities of each variantmanually. The system uses the total quantity for each variant to calculate the quantity each plant is to receive of the variant.
After you enter a generic material (as well as an allocation rule, allocation strategy or a plant group), an "empty" variant matrix appears(i.e. without any defaults) in which you enter the total quantities of the variants. The system then calculates the quantities for each plant and variant, based on the allocation rule, allocation strategy or plant group (equal distribution) you entered.
- Automatic (two-step) distribution of the total quantity of the generic material
The system calculates (in two steps) the quantities for each plant and variant from the total quantity of the generic material. In the first step, it takes certain plant criteria (such as sales figures) into account, and in the second step criteria concerning the characteristics of the generic material (quota scale).
After you enter a generic material and the total quantity for the generic material (as well as an allocation rule, allocation strategy or a plant group), the system first calculates the total quantities for theplant, based on the allocation rule, allocation strategy or plant group (equal distribution) you entered.
In a second step, the system uses the quota scale to calculate the quantity for each plant and variant from the total quantity for the plant.
- Automatic distribution of the total quantity of a generic material (one-step)
In a single step, the system calcualtes the quantities for each plant and variant from the total quantity of the generic material.
After you enter a generic material and the total quantity for the generic material (and an allocation strategy), the system calculates thequantity for each plant and variant, using the allocation strategy. The allocation strategy can access the quota scales for the calcualtion.
The other quantities can be calculated by adding the quantities for each plant and variant. The user can make manual changes. The variant matrix is available at item and plant level.
