Definition
Here you can decide with which tool you want to create the report. You have the following possibilities:
- Report Writer
This is the basic transaction for defining reports. This option was also available in previous Releases.
- Report Painter
The Report Painter is a newly developed tool for defining reports. It is considerably easier to use.
When reports created by the Report Painter are executed, they are internally converted to the Report Writer format. At this time, the Report Painter does not have the complete range of functionality as does the Report Writer.
When creating a Report Writer report, you can use a report defined in the Report Painter as a reference. This provides you with the option of using functions in your report which are not yet available in the Report Painter, but are in the Report Writer. It is not possible, however, to convert a Report Writer report to the Report Painter foramt.
