Documentation
Definition
The Report Writer differentiates between local and global cells.
Local cells
- Local cells are valid only within a row and column block. Local cells have the value zero outside of this area of validity.
- Local cells are always assigned to exactly one row and column block, even when such a block consists of several characteristics (multi- dimension set). The value of the cell changes depending on the unassigned characteristics.
- By entering a level, local cells can refer to subordinate subtotals.
Global cells
- Global cells are valid in the entire report.
- Global cells are assigned to every row and column characteristic via symbolic names. Thereby, global cells address exactly one value in the report.
- Global cells are also used for key figure blocks.
Example
A report has two sections: Costs per cost component and statistical key figures (e.g. number of employees). Now you can enter a formula in the column set for the first section. The formula is divided by the global cell that refers to the number of employees from the second section. In doing so, you generate a column that reveals the costs per employee.
Note
The Report Painter supports global cells only.
