Definition
The following options determine how the SAP spool server should react if the target PC (SAPLPD program) does not use as high a level of security as the spool server. This covers the case, for example, when a server asks for authentication, but the PC does not support SNC.
- No security: The output data is sent from the spool server to the PC unencoded across the network. SNC authentication is not used.
This is the default setting.
- Encoded: The spool server and SAPLPD program use a converted output data stream. This protects output data from accidentally being viewed. The conversion is not secure and can be decoded fairly easily.
Secure Network Communications (SNC) does not need to be implemented to use this option.
- Authentication of the partner
Authentication and signing
Authentication, integrity and privacy: These options activate Secure Network Communication functions. Both the SAP server and the target PC (SAPLPD program) must support SNC.For more information, see the SNC documentation (limited access), or contact SAP.
Authentication requires that the host printer verify itself. Privacy activates the secure encoding of output data.
