Definition

Select this field if the character set of the printer escape sequences and texts in the formatting for device types and print control characters are to be converted during the printout. This flag does not affect the data to be printed in the spool request.

If you select this field, the spool system deals with these escape sequences and text strings precisely as with the data to be printed. Thus, the spool system automatically converts from the initial character set in the host system to the output character set in the printer.

Select this field if the printer uses another character set than the system. You should select this field if your SAP system runs on an ASCII host and the printer you define is connected to an EBCDIC host, for example. The ASCII texts and the hexadecimal data in the formats for the device types and print control characters are then converted according to EBCDIC and are printed correctly by the EBCDIC host and printer.

Exception: Hexadecimal character strings which start with \0y are not converted.

If you do not select this field, the escape sequences and the character strings without character set conversion are sent to the output device.
