The method the system uses to convert the number depends on the partner type of the exchange partner:
- If the exchange partner is a customer, the system takes the external material number from the customer material info record.
- If the exchange partner is a vendor, the purchasing info record is used.
- If the exchange partner is a plant, no conversion is carried out.
