Documentation
Definition
Balance that the account had immediately before the posting was made. The account balance before posting is saved in the posting record, so that the progression of postings can be reconstructed later.
So for postings created one after the other, the following applies:
- account balance before posting + posting quantity = next account balance before posting
This interim balance is often not suited to business management evaluations. For example, if postings are posted in the past or in the future with regard to the posting date, and then are arranged according to this date, the above relationship between one posting and the next may not always be so for the evaluation.
Example
Physical sequence of entry:
1) Posting date: 05.01. Account balance before posting.: 0 Posting quantity: 5
2) Posting date: 04.01. Account balance before posting.: 5 Posting quantity: 3
3) Posting date: 06.01. Account balance before posting.: 8 Posting quantity: 2
Evaluation by posting date:
2) Posting date: 04.01. Account balance before posting.: 5 Posting quantity: 3
1) Posting date: 05.01. Account balance before posting.: 0 Posting quantity: 5
3) Posting date: 06.01. Account balance before posting.: 8 Posting quantity: 2
For this evaluation, it makes no sense to display the account balance before posting as the interim balance.
Use
This field should be seen as a technical interim result.
For evaluations, in which account postings are shown in a logical sequence (for example, by posting date or document date) that differs from the sequence of entry, you should use the dynamically determined account balance after posting.
