Definition
Displays the returnable packaging account interim balance after posting. This account balance is calculated dynamically depending on the sort filter you set (by posting date, for example.)
In evaluations without explicit interim balance calculation, interim balances are calculated according to their physical sequence of entry. This means that the posting quantity is simply added to the account balance before posting as stored in the posting record.
Notes
- An interim balance for a specific posting can change subsequently. Such changes happen when new postings are created that, if sorted logically, actually come before existing postings (for example, when the posting date is set to a date in the past).
- Archiving can cause gaps in the logical posting sequence. It is then no longer possible to guarantee a correct interim balance calculation for older postings.
The system cannot identify such gaps unambiguiously. Archive administrators should therefore make sure not to archive any postings that are still used for evaluations with interim balance calculation.
Example
Postings were made on 11.01., 18.01. and 25.01. of one year. Account matching is executed for these postings, based on a statement from 08.02. . The 2nd posting was matched. The others require investigation, or have to wait until the statement for the next month is received. Matched postings are archived on 25.02. The posting from 18.01 is matched, so it is then archived and deleted from the database. The interim balance for the posting on 11.01. can no longer be calculated correctly, because the system no longer has the posting quantity for the archived posting. The value displayed is incorrect.
