Definition
A key figure scheme is a collection of formulas used to define key figures. The individual formulas are called "elements" and can be based on single database fields as well as other elements in the same key figure scheme. All database fields are defined in each scheme and are numbered 9001 through 9999. The elements that you define can be assigned numbers from 1 through 8999.
In a formula, you can use the usual arithmetic operations (+, -, *, /) and parentheses. You can also define a formula using a function call. In addition to defining the contents of an element (formula and text), you can connect certain display parameters. For example, an element can have a specific display factor and decimal format.

Procedure
If you want to define a formula you can use the function "Basic formula" for simple addition and subtraction. From the next screen, you can display a list of elements where you choose the ones you want to use in the current element.
When using more complex formulas, you should use the formula editor.
If you try to use the function "Basic formula" and the system automatically takes you to the formula editor, this means that entries have already been made for that element of the key figure scheme in the formula editor. Consequently, you can no longer define the formula as a basic formula, and you cannot choose between the formula editor and the basic formula screen.
The texts should be maintained for each element of the key figure scheme. Press F2 to go to the text maintenance screen.
On this screen you can also define whether an element of the key figure scheme should be linked to certain display parameters.

Use
Here you can enter the elements of the key figure scheme required in the formula being defined. Function "Choose entries" provides you with a list of possible entries. You can select all the elements required for the formula at once.
If the addition and subtraction operations are not enough for your formula, you can call up the formula editor directly.
It is recommended that you first define the basic formula first and then switch to the formula editor with the elements you have chosen.
