General
To improve system performance when selecting reports, you can calculate presummarized datasets (subtotals) and store these in the database. This presummarized data can be created in the background.
"Summarize" means that you reduce the data volume considerably by foregoing certain detailed information.
Example: If sales to 1000 different customers are grouped together in 10 different customer groups, you can reduce the data volume by a factor of 100.
When you call up a report, the system then no longer needs to read the original data. Instead, it reads the presummarized data, and therefore needs much less time to display the report. Since system runtimes are proportional to the required data volume, this example would reduce the runtime by a factor of 100!
There are two different types of presummarized data:
- Report-specific summarization data
- Summarization levels, which are available for any report as well as other areas in CO-PA
This dialog box lets you define which of these options you want to use for this report.
