Definition
A characteristic is defined with a 5 character name, a description, a long text, the data type and the length. The data type determines which values can be entered for the characteristic. The following data types are possible:
CHAR - Data type for character strings, ASCII or EBCDIC
NUMC - A string of numbers of any length for key, display
DATS - Data type for date fields
CUKY - Currency key. Copied from CURR currency fields
UNIT - Unit key for QUAN fields.
