Example
For example, if all apartments of a house are equipped with oil central heating, you could define the fixtures and fittings characteristic Oil Central Heating for the building instead of separately for each apartment. If electric heating is installed in the top-floor apartment that was subsequently added, for example, then when you process this apartment, you can select the Oil Central Heating characteristic as #not appropriate# and instead specify a fixtures and fittings characteristic Electric Heating.
