Documentation

Definition

Controls whether or not it is possible to select objects in the application using a higher-level object in the hierarchy.

Use

  • Indicator is set ('X')

In the application, the user can also assign subobjects to an object that is already assigned. The user makes this assignment by using the context menu for the object of the object type. In the input help, the system then offers only those subordinate objects that belong to an object type that is designated as allowed in the assignment table.

  • Indicator is not set (' ')

This option for (automatic) assignment is not available in the application. This means that the user is not able to select subordinate objects in the context menu for the object.

Dependencies

Example

  • The object types business entity, building, and rental object can be assigned to the contract type service contract. The subobjects indicator is set for the business entity and building.
You want to create a contract in which individual conditions relate to all objects of the business entity or building and other conditions only relate to specific rental objects of a building.
You can assign the business entity to the contract first. Subsequently select the icon before the business entity and choose Assign Subobjects. The system displays the buildings for the business entity. You can select the rental objects in the same way using the context menu of a building.
Note that a reference to the subobjects cannot be saved. That means, even if you select all rental objects of a building, only those rental objects are assigned to the contract that existed in the system at the time of processing. If you assign a new rental object later, it is not automatically assigned. You have to assign the rental object manually.
  • A renovation project should be assigned to a building with all lower-level work breakdown structure (WBS) elements.
First assign the top WBS level and then the WBS elements of the next level as described above. Then select all WBS elements of the second level (by choosing the Ctrl button and selecting the icon with the left mouse button) and choose Assign Subobjects again from the context menu. The WBS elements of the next level are displayed. Proceed as for other levels.
