Documentation
Definition
Quantity unit in which the material stock is recorded. The base unit is the foundation of all quantities converted into other alternative units.
In inventory management, the base unit is equivalent to the stock keeping unit.
Dependencies
It is imperative for all data postings that you define the base unit and its relationship to alternative units for conversion purposes. The system can deal with alternative units only if it has an existing conversion with the correct number of places after the decimal point. To ensure this condition:
- Define the base unit as the unit with the highest required amount of accuracy.
- Define conversions with alternative units so that they result in simple decimals, not in loop calculations (such as 1/3, equaling 0.333...).
