Definition
A 'real' (non-derived) depreciation area
Within a depreciation area, asset values are managed for a certain purpose (calculation of book depreciation, tax depreciation, group depreciation, net assets, and cost-accounting depreciation). Each depreciation area is part of at least one chart of depreciation and can manage asset values independently of the other areas. When you define depreciation areas, you can, however, specify relationships for checking values or transferring them between depreciation areas.
You can also define derived depreciation areas. Values for these areas (for example reserve for special depreciation) are derived from values in real depreciation areas by means of a mathematical relationship that you define.
