Use

You can define control keys that contain control indicators. These indicators control, for example, whether:

  • a sampling procedure must be defined
  • a characteristic is treated as a quantitative characteristic
  • upper and/or lower tolerance limits must be defined

One of these indicators controls whether or not the proposed settings for the other control indicators can be changed.

Procedure

When you create a master inspection characteristic or an inspection characteristic, you can enter a control key. From this control key the system gets the default settings for indicators that are relevant to the characteristic you are creating. Only the proposed settings for the indicators are copied to the characteristic; the control key itself is not copied over or stored in the characteristic.

If you do not enter a control key, then you must indicate the type of characteristic you are creating (quantitative or qualitative). Furthermore you set all additional indicators.

After you have created a characteristic using a control key for which the indicator "Fixed" is set, you can no longer change or delete the control key nor can you select an indicator for the characteristic type.
