Definition
The work in process is based on the component quantities and is valuated at target cost.
Example: Material X requires four components Y as input. However, you withdraw five rather than four components Y. The system reports four components Y as WIP and one component Y as variance.
Note that although confirmations are entered at the assembly level, the system converts the quantities to the component level. This means that the variances are reported at the component level.
