Documentation
Definition
Message category that is displayed at results confirmation.
Use
You can use the message category to change the procedure used when the number of planned decimal places is exceeded in results confirmation.
- If you choose message category 'E', you can enter a numerical original value with the maximum number of decimal places specified in the inspection characteristic.
If more decimal places are entered than specified, the system issues an error message. - If you choose message category 'E', you can enter a mean value with the maximum number of decimal places specified for summarized recording. This number consists of the number of decimal places specified in the inspection characteristic and the additional decimal places from the plant settings. If there are no additional decimal places planned in the work settings, the same procedure is followed as used with original value recording
- If you use message category 'I' or 'W', the user's attention is drawn to the fact that the number of confirmed decimal places has exceeded the specified number. After the user confirms the entries, they are copied in full length, and issued with the planned number of decimal places.
Dependencies
For message category 'E' the following restrictions apply:
- When entering original values, the functions for using offset and the conversion factor are deactivated.
- You cannot enter exponential numbers in the screen.
- If results confirmation occurs using the modules for the QM-IDI Interface, the number of decimal places is compared to the number of decimal places in the inspection characteristic. The subsytem can only confirm the required number of decimal places. The value is not copied, if there are too many decimal places. The system logs that the result was not copied.
If the subsystem cannot limit the number of decimal places, you can do this using a cutomer enhancement. The names of such customer enhancements begin with QIRF. They are dependent on the type of results confirmation used.
The modules for the QM-IDI Interface only work with message category 'E'.
Note
When recording mean values, rounding errors can occur in the display if more decimal places are entered than are planned in the inspection characteristic. To prevent these rounding errors, you should only use as many decimal places as are defined in the inspection characteristic.
You can use message category 'E' to ensure that the correct number of decimal places are used.
