Definition

Name that uniquely identifies a master inspection characteristic within a plant.

An inspection characteristic describes what is to be inspected, that is, the inspection requirements for materials, parts, and products. To simplify and standardize inspection planning, you can define master inspection characteristics that you can use in various task lists.

Supplementary Documentation - QMERKNR 0001

Procedure

  • When you create a master record, you can enter your own (alphanumeric) identifier. If you do not enter an identifier, the system automatically assigns the master record a number from the predefined number range.
  • When you create, change, delete, and display a validity period of a master record, you must enter the identifier of an existing master record.

Supplementary Documentation - QMERKNR 0002

Procedure

If the class characteristic is assigned exactly one master inspection characteristic and this master inspection characteristic has not yet been assigned within the material specification, the system proposes an identifier for the master inspection characteristic.

If the class characteristic is assigned more than one master inspection characteristic, you can display a list of assigned characteristics using the list function. You can then select a characteristic from this list.
