Definition

The project number uniquely identifies a CO project
(project or project item in a project hierarchy).
Master records are used for this purpose.

The project number may consist of up to 16 characters and
always begins with a structure indicator. Structure indicators
are defined in table 206 under hierarchy indicator P (project).

The project number can be divided into one or more hierarchy levels
(editing indicator '.'). The number of characters per level is also
defined in table 206. The level structure automatically determines the
project hierarchy.

Example: Project I.12.3.1 is at a lower level than project I.12.3;
project I.12 represents the highest level of this
project hierarchy.

The individual elements of the project hierarchy can also be called
project items.

Example: The projects I.12.3.1 and I.12.3 (separate project master
records) are project items of project hierarchy I.12.

Each level in the project hierarchy can be assigned individual
designations via table 206T.

Example: Level 1 (I.12) top project
Level 2 (I.12.3) sub-project
Level 3 (I.12.3.1) craft

You can enter the project number either by using editing
indicators or by entering it in full length with leading zeros.

Example: Table 206, length level 1 -> 2 characters
level 2 -> 3 characters
level 3 -> 2 characters

Entry: I.12.3.1 or
I120030100000000
