Definition

As from reporting period January 1997 preference should be declared according to customs law when importing from third countries (based on article 10, section 1, letter h) of the EU decree no. 1172/95 from the Council, 22 May 1995).

Preference is the word used to describe preferential duty terms, the prerequisites for which are fulfilled at the time of submitting a customs declaration. Please use a three digit numerical code for declaring the preference.

Examples of the most frequently used preference codes:
100 Application of third country customs record
120 GATT product allocation according to footnotes in customs tariff
200 Application of APS customs record without extra requirements
300 Application of affected customs record with preference without
any further restrictions

If no preferential duty terms have been submitted, then enter code '100'.
