Definition
A posting period is a self-contained part of a fiscal year.
Use
Each accounting transaction is assigned to a posting period. The transaction figures of the various accounting transactions are totalled per posting period.
Examples of period divisions:
- per calender month, that is, 12 posting periods
- every 4 weeks, that is, 13 posting periods
- per week, that is, 52 or 53 posting periods
