Definition
The floor-area ratio (FAR) indicates how many square metres of floor area per square metre of property area are permitted. The floor area is the total of all areas of all the floors. Or, in other words it is the amount of area on a property that can be developed.
Example: For a three-floor development project in a residential area a floor area amount of 0.6 applies. If the size of the property is 1,500 square metres, the total area of the three floors must not exceed 900 square metres.
