Definition

The reference document is the document that triggered the CO document. The reference document number is filled as follows depending on the reference document type:

• For reference document type A, it contains the number of the settlement document
• For reference document type F, it contains the number of the financial accounting document
• For reference document type K, it contains the number of the controlling document
• For reference document type R, it contains the number of the accounting document

Reference document type F only occurs with documents posted before Release 3.0. In the case of documents posted after Release 3.0, an accounting document number is generated for documents from financial accounting and the reference is located using the reference document type R.
