Definition
An alternative assessment rate for severance pay
Use
Severance pay is the product of the relevant payments, the employment periods in full months, and an assessment rate. With the exception of professors, the assessment rate depends on the age of the public sector employee:
01 Up to Completion of 30th Year of Age: 15 %
02 Up to Completion of 50th Year of Age: 20 %
ß3 After Completion of 50th Year of Age: 25 %
04 Professors: 25 % Irrespective of Age
If the Alternative Assessment Rate Severance field is initial, the system first checks if the public sector employee is a professor. Otherwise, the assessment rate is automatically determined depending on the age.
If the public sector employee that is changing positions has also changed employers and the ceding employer received a severance pay, this amount must be paid in addition to the severance pay with 4.5% interest per year starting from the time the payment was received. To separate the amount from the actual severance pay amount, both the severance pay amount to be considered and the applicable interest are saved in a separate field.
