Definition
If you are using ALE (= Application Link Enabling) to connect several R/3 Systems to one another, you can distribute all the profit centers in a controlling area to these systems. This means that postings can be made to one cost center in any system.
The ALE distribution method determines which data is stored in which system:
- No distribution to other systems
The controlling area and all relevant objects (cost centers, orders, and so on) are only known in the local system. No data is distributed to other systems.
- Method 1: Centralized Profit Center Accounting
Master data for profit centers is distributed to other systems. The transaction data is stored in the central system for the controlling area. Posting lines assigned to a profit center are sent to the central system by the other systems.
- Method 2: Decentralized Profit Center Accounting
Master data for profit centers is distributed to other systems. For each profit center, you can specify the system in which to store the transaction data (= "home system" of the profit center). Posting lines assigned to a profit center are sent to the home system of that profit center. The transaction data can also be summarized and sent to the central system to allow analyses that cover the information from several systems.
