If the material is relevant for tax purposes, you must assign an excise duty group to it. From a tax point of view, all materials of an excise duty group are handled the same.
Dependencies
You can create excise duty groups in Customizing for the Industry Solution Oil & Gas (Downstream) by choosing Define Excise Duty Group.
