Documentation
Definition
The partner role technical category identifies the technical type of object (normally in terms of database table and account group) used to record the business partner to which the current partner role refers.
One partner role may be assigned a number of technical categories using the IMG.
Only certain types of customer business partners are compatible with business location sales reporting in the Sales Information System (SIS). This is due to the way in which the customer business partner is modelled in the SD system.
As the partner role technical category is used to accurately define the type of customer business partner, you can set a flag in the definition step of the technical category to indicate if the business partner type is compatible with business location reporting in the SIS.
Example
Sales to business partners that have the role of 'operator of petroleum fuels' at all company-owned locations are to be recorded in the Sales Information System (SIS). By restricting the possible technical categories for the 'operator of fuels' role to those that are compatible with SIS reporting, the system administrator is able to prevent allocation of business partners for which no SIS data should be recorded.
