Definition
A base product is a material which can be assigned to an exchange-related contract item if the exchange is sub/base product-relevant (indicator in the exchange header).
This enables you to update the logical inventory accounts (material internal receivables / material internal payables) and the exchange balance with reference to the assigned base product.
The physical inventory posting is still made with the actual product from the item (the sub-product).
