The exchange type defines the default parameters for an exchange agreement, e.g. rules for material and fee posting, breakdown and split indicators or the number range that is assigned to this type.

When creating an exchange, all the parameters can be modified according to your specific requirements.

Use

Transfered from exchange table at the time of creation quantity schedule and stored in Qty.schedule table if document item assigned to an exchange no.

Exchange assignment to SD/MM document. A new assignment/deassignment of exchange doesn't change Qty.schedule automatically, but you will get a message if differs to actual assignment.
