Definition

You can create document parts for a document. When selecting documents, if you export the document parts in an individual table and not in the list of documents, the number of document parts that that do not have deletion indicators will appear.

You must note the significance of the individual components of the document key have:

A document key comprises the following fields:

  • DOKAR: Document Type

This is linked to the status network, which is defined in customizing.

  • DOKNR: Document Number

This is the principal element of the document key. When you customize the document type, you can specify how the document number should be assigned (external number assignment, internal number assignment only, etc.).

  • DOKTL: Subdocument Number

Every subdocument is a separate document in its own right. The first document created under a new document number is assigned the subdocument number 000. In other words, there is no way of identifying a main document on the basis of the subdocument number (unless you make sure that the first document created is the main document). You can create subdocuments when a large document has to be divided up into smaller segments, or if a document is made up of individual documents with different formats (text, images, videos, etc.).

  • DOKVR: Document Version

If a document has been released and you wish to make changes to it, you can create versions for this purpose. You can also create versions for every subdocument.

  • The LFDDOK element (internal sequence number of the document) of table NDOC is not part of the document key. This field is only used internally so that multiple movements and/or services can be assigned to a document.
