Definition
The generic header indicator specifies whether or not you can use a diagnosis as a medical diagnosis.
It is used to control whether a diagnosis for which the group indicator is set should simply be used to navigate the diagnosis coding catalog.
The generic header has the following meanings:
'X' The diagnosis is used for structuring and
navigating within the diagnosis coding catalog; it is not intended
for coding and therefore cannot be selected.
' ' The diagnosis is suitable for coding, and can be selected.
