Documentation
Definition
Table field that stores Reference keys for integrated external data or linked objects in the document tables.
Use
A reference field is created for all documentation elements to which an external data module is assigned, except for all link elements with an assigned link module. For a link element, the reference field will be created at the position of the table field, with an integration of external data in addition to the data structures, which will also be created without these for the respective documentation element. For a link element with external data integration, only one reference field each is required.
Reference fields for multiple link objects (e.g. link elements in multiple structures) are created in the secondary table of the appropriate multiple structure, and reference fields for integrated external data are created in the primary table of a document category.
The Reference keys stored in the reference fields are specified by the Reference modules and link modules, and are transferred to the calling dialog application as a safety measure. You can branch to the integrated external data or the linked objects either directly or via the Reference table. The task of processing the reference is that of the external data modules and link modules.
