Definition
External data module or name of the external data module
An external data module is a quantity of function modules, tables and structures which enable the integration of external data into a parameterized document. Every external data module requires an entry in the table N2FDBS, in which the related elements and their characteristics are entered for an external data module.
You can select from two types of external data modules:
- External data modules that enable the integration of data from other parameterized documents into one document category and
- External data modules that enable the integration of data that are not components of the parameterized documentation (External entities).
For those of the first type, the entries are created in the N2FDBS via the transaction N2F4 using standard modules and generated modules. For those of the second type, the entries in the N2FDBS are performed by the creator of the external data modules via the transaction N2FD.
External data modules can be assigned to all categories of documentation elements, which can be maintained with external data via external data modules.
