Definition

Since the provisional patient number and the definitive patient number are always mutually exclusive in relation to a data record of this table, the same field is used as the reference to the provisional patient number. To enable a reference to a definitive patient number to be distinguished from a reference to a provisional patient number, the indicator PATPR (provisional patient number) has been added to this table.

References to a provisional patient number are designated by PATPR = X. The field remains blank (= SPACE) for references to a definitive patient number.
