Description

This key figure gives an overview of the age structures of the special stock records with stock <> 0.

Use of the key figure for analysis purposes

Using the display you can estimate, when the last clean-up (deletion run with transaction MM73, MM74) took place. It should also help you see when the deletion runs should take place.

Structure and use of detail displays

This detail display shows the frequency with which records with stock <> 0 occur within an age class.

Retroactive accounting begins at the time of the analysis (SY-DATE) and refers to the creation date of the stock record (Field ERSDA).
In Release 2.2x the field ERSDA does not yet exist. The value of the creation date for these records is INITIAL. Records with initial creation date originate from before the upgrade to R/3 3.0 or 3.1. Timewise they can not be allocated more exactly and are shown in a separate column.

Example

Plant    Total    <= 1 week    <= 2 weeks    ...    initial date
        200            10            30        ...        80
0001    150            9            20        ...        60
0002    50            1            10        ...        20
Interpretation:
Altogether there are 200 records without stock, of which 150 are in plant 0001 and 50 are in plant 0002.
In plant 0001 there are 5 records without stock , 9 records between 1 and 2 weeks, ...
10 records in plant 0001 are still from Release 2.2.

Notes for optimization

The display gives an overview of the age of the special stock records.
Here the normal lead time of special stocks is compared to the age of the book inventories. If a large number of special stocks exist, which are clearly older than the normal lead time, this must be cleared up with the department concerned. A method must be found to break down these stocks and to avoid this in future.
'Lead time' is defined as the time between order-related goods receipt (MSSA record is created) and order-related goods issue (stock is set to 0 and disappears from statistics).

Example

The following two examples show how very old sales order stocks can occur. There are, however, many other possible causes.
For other special stock types, analogue scenarios are possible.

Example a)
Goods receipts are correctly posted in relation to orders. For goods issue the sales order stock is physically taken, the goods issue posting is carried out and is not order-related, but from free stock. This results in an error in the book inventories. The free stock is too low to not be broken down during sales order stocks. As well as negative effects on performance, this also has negative business effects, as because there are less free book inventories, there is no material available.

Example b)
Materials are produced or procured
by a third party. Goods receipt is carried out accordingly, in relation to the order. There is no goods withdrawal for specific reasons (for example, the customer has cancelled the order). In this case the sales order stock remains unlimited, if it can not be used elsewhere, for example, by transferring into free stock.
