Definition

Settled income, resulting from settlement accounting based on the cumulative business volume for the condition record.

  • In the Customizing facility for the arrangement type, you can specify that settlement of a condition record is to take place once only at the end of the validity period of the arrangement. The settled income is shown in this field.

  • Alternatively, you can specify that the settlement of a condition record is to take place in the form of periodic interim settlements. The income from the interim settlements (i.e. from settlement with regard to the period condition record) is recorded in this field.

At the end of the validity period of the rebate arrangement (at the end of the year say), final settlement can then take place on the basis of the total business volume over the period of the arrangement (annual business volume). Any rebate income from interim settlements is deducted from the overall amount due for the period.

Through the application of a separate condition record for the final settlement, a different rebate income figure may be arrived at. A comparison and reconciliation of business volumes may likewise result in a different income.

The income from the final settlement is assigned on a proportionate to the condition records of the periods on a proportionate basis within the framework of updating in the Logistics Information System. A separate database field exists for this purpos ("Income from final settlement").

Total income is thus always made up of the income from settlement with regard to the condition records of the periods plus a portion of the income deriving from final settlement.

Furthermore, you can always see which portion of the income stems from interim settlements and which additional amount derives from final settlement. You can use this information for optimization strategies for example.

Within the framework of database entries, list outputs etc., the income shown always relates to the area of validity discernible from the environment.

For example, the income can relate to the level "condition record, plant", or "Purchasing organization, purchasing group, condition granter".

Example

Assume the rebate arrangement is valid from 01.01. until 12.31. of the year.

If settlement for the arrangement is carried out once only, you may agree on a condition specifying a rebate of 3% on a business volume of $100,000. This results in an income of $3,000, which is updated in the field "Income from condition record". The field "Income from final settlement" remains empty.

If settlement is carried out for the arrangement on a periodic basis (e.g. quarterly) you can, for example, agree on a condition stipulating a rebate of 3% on the business volume achieved over a quarter-year period.

  • 1st. quarter busn. vol. $20,000, $600 income from interim settlement
  • 2nd. quarter busn. vol. $30,000, $900 income from interim settlement
  • 3rd. quarter busn. vol. $20,000, $600 income from interim settlement
  • 4th. quarter busn. vol. $30,000, $900 income from interim settlement

The updating of the incomes for the individual quarters (i.e. the condition records) is carried out in the field "Income from condition record".

Assume a condition stipulating a rebate of 5% on an annual business volume in excess of $75,000 is agreed. This results in an income from final settlement amounting to $2,000 ($5,000 less the $3,000 already paid). A proportionate amount of $400 is allotted to the first quarter, which is updated in the field "Income from final settlement".

The total rebate income for the first quarter is thus $1,000 (interim settlement $ 600, portion of income from final settlement $400 ).
