Definition

Determines whether charcteristics values are copied for goods receipt for the purchase order or production order, and if so, from where.

Use

You can control whether the characteristic values

  • are not copied
  • are only copied from the classification of an original batch or process batch
  • are only copied from the configuration of a purchase order or production order item
  • are copied from the configuration with the addition of the characteristic values of the classification
  • are copied from the classification, with the addition of the characteristic values from the configuration

In each case, the system copies the characteristic values of the characteristics of the same name to the goods receipt batch. If several sources are allowed, the system first copies the characteristic values of the top priority source, and then adds the initial characteristics with characteristic values from the second source where appropriate.

Example

You chose the setting Characteristics from classification (priority) and configuration. The class of the goods receipt batch contains the following characteristics: Quality, Color, Length, and Width.

The original batch for the production order contains the characteristics Quality and Color, as these are not changed during production. The configuration of the production item contains the characteristics Quality, Color, Length and Width.

The system first compies the characteristic values for Quality and Color from the original batch. It then copies the characteristic values for Length and Width from the configuration of the production item, as these charcteristics are still initial.
