Definition

Number of previous periods that are used for the analysis period.

The current periods are either included or excluded

depending on the user settings.

Dependencies

You can get the number of periods that are specified here from the exception analysis and in the periodic analyses as default value for the analysis time period. Note that if the default values are overwritten in the exception analysis, it could lead to incorrect readings. For example, if the exception situation that is defined in the exception is based on data for the number of periods that were determined here, then an analysis with a threshold value of 100,000 and 2 periods will give different results than with an analysis having 5 periods.

Note

When defining an individual exception in a threshold value analysis and plan/actual comparison you can also execute a forecast. If you also want to carry out a forecast, then the number of periods that were specified provide the basis for the forecast. For this reason, you should select a sufficient number of periods in the case of a subsequent forecast so that a forecast result is ensured.

If you specify more than 4 periods, then the system executes a statistical test based on a trend for determining the forecasted data. If you specify 5 periods or less, then an average is produced.
