Documentation
Use
If you set this indicator, any secondary indices that may exist in the target information structure are deleted before copying takes place and are set up again once copying has taken place.
If you set this indicator in conjunction with the "Delete data" function, the system deletes the secondary indices of the source information structure before deletion of the data takes place and then sets up these indices again.
This procedure improves performance levels.
Note
Performance levels can, however, only be improved if the volume of data to be processed amounts to at least 10 - 15 % of the overall dataset of the information structure in question.
If, for instance, the source information structure contains 100,000 data records, and 30,000 new data records are to be copied to it, you are advised to use this option.
If, on the other hand, only 5,000 new data records are to be copied to this source information structure, for example, you are not recommended to use this option due to performance reasons.
Additional Information
The so-called 'primary index' is also generated automatically for the key fields of each information structure. Furthermore, a 'secondary index' is automatically generated for "customer", "vendor", and "material", if these fields exist in the information structure.
You usually have the option of creating your own secondary indices for all characteristics and all CHARACTER-key figures to suit your requirements in the area of reporting.
