Definition

Amount resulting from settlement accounting with regard to the cumulative business volume relating to the condition record.

The income from rebate arrangements not subject to periodic settlement and the income from interim settlements of arrangements requiring periodic settlement is updated under this key figure.

Dependencies

At the time the settlement document is posted in Financial Accounting, the income from settlements with regard to a rebate arrangement is updated in the information structure S015.
Independently of the date of the document, the income is apportioned among all data records of the information structure belonging to the condition record requiring settlement by share in business volume. Income from final settlements is apportioned among all condition records of the periods by share in business volume. Also, the income is apportioned among all relevant characteristics (purchasing organization, purchasing group, material group, plant, month) by share in business volume.

Through the use of two key figures for income ("Income from final settlement" and "Income from condition record"), you are always able to determine which portion of the income stems from interim settlements and which amount is an additional amount stemming from final settlement (for example, due to the reaching of a higher scale level, or following a business volume comparison and agreement process). This information can be used for the purposes of optimization strategies, for instance.

Via the Customizing facility for the arrangement type, you can specify whether a final settlement is to be carried out. Note the settings you have made in Customizing for the arrangement type:

  1. If it has been specified in Customizing for the arrangement type that settlement with regard to the rebate arrangement is to be carried out once only at the end of the arrangement validity period, there will be no final settlement. Consequently, only the key figure "Income from condition record" will be updated. The key figure "Income from final settlement" is not updated in this case.
  2. If it has been specified in Customizing for the arrangement type that settlement with respect to an arrangement is to be carried out periodically, only the key figure "Income from condition record" will be updated at the time of interim settlement with regard to the arrangement.

Examples

Income from final settlement/income from condition record/total income from condition record

A rebate arrangement is valid from 01.01.1996 bis 12.31.1996.
You must differentiate between the following two cases:

Settlement accounting with respect to the rebate arrangement is carried out once only.

In this case, you can, for example, agree on a condition stipulating a rebate of 3%. If the volume of business done with the vendor amounts to $100,000, the resulting rebate income will be $3,000, which is updated for the key figure "Income from condition record". In this case, there will be no "Income from final settlement" and the key figure "Income from final settlement" will not be updated.

Settlement accounting with respect to the rebate arrangement is effected on a periodic basis.

If settlement with respect to the rebate arrangement is carried out on a periodic basis (e.g. quarterly), you can, for example, agree on a condition stipulating a rebate of 3% on the business volume done during a quarter. The updating of the cumulative income for the periods is done under the key figure "Income from condition record":

  • 1st. quarter: vendor business volume $20,000 --> Income from condition record: $600
  • 2nd. quarter: vendor business volume $30,000 --> Income from condition record: $900
  • 3rd. quarter: vendor business volume $20,000 --> Income from condition record: $600
  • 4th. quarter: vendor business volume $30,000 --> Income from condition record: $900

For final settlement, you agree on a condition stipulating a rebate of 5% for an annual business volume exceeding $75,000.

$3,000 has already been paid out. The residual sum payable in final settlement amounts to $2,000:

Income from final settlement:    $100,000 X 0.05 = $5,000 - $3,000 = $2,000.

A proportionate income amounting to $400 is allocated to the 1st. quarter, which is updated under the key figure "Income from final settlement". This proportionate income is arrived at as follows:

1st. quarter: income from final settlement:

Income from final settlement
----------------------------    X    Business volume: 1st. quarter    =
total business volume

$2,000
--------    X    $20,000    =    $400
$100,000

The key figure "Total income for condition record" for the 1st. quarter results from the total of the income from the condition record (interim settlement) and the proportionate income from final settlement (income from final settlement, 1st. quarter). In the example:

Total income from condition record (1st. quarter): $600 + $400 = $1,000.

Note:

In order that you can also analyze the key figures on a monthly basis, in this case the key figures are also updated at the level of the months involved. Thus, for example, the income figures for the first quarter are further subdivided according to the months January, February, and March.
