The ALE distribution methods in cost center accounting require central all master data (cost centers, cost elements, activity tpyes and so on) to be maintained centrally. The central system for master data maintenance is usually the central system for the controlling area. You can get around this standard setting by entering an alternative logical system for master data maintenance.

The following then holds:

• You can maintain master data in this (alternative) logical system only.
• The master data is exported from the alternative logical system to all decentralized systems and to the central system of the controlling area.
