Definition
This key indicates whether the following objects can or must be externally processed if so specified in the control key you selected:
- operations and sub-operations in Quality Management (QM), Plant Maintenance (PM) and Production Planning (PP)
- activities and activity elements in the Project System (PS)
- phases and secondary resources in Production Planning for Process Industries (PP-PI)
You cannot set the external processing key for operations in PP-PI. The system ignores this key if set for them.

Use
- If you select the key External processing possible, you can maintain externally processed data for an internally processed activity.
- If you select the key External processing required, you have to maintain the externally processed data for the activity.
The activity then becomes an externally processed activity.
- If you select the key External processing not permitted, you cannot maintain externally processed data for the activity.
